I am many things, but a bad kid isn’t one of them. I’ve never been suspended and I’ve only ever been given one detention in my life–fourth grade, Mr. Marcus’ class–but that all changed yesterday. For the first time ever in my college career, I was kicked out of a class.
To our surprise, the professor announced a pop quiz yesterday for our Ancient and Medieval Political Theories class, which Sean and I were obviously not prepared for. We turned in our quizzes, along with most of the class, and went back to take our seats. I turned to Sean and asked in a whisper, “Did he cover any of that while we were here, or is that all from the class we missed on Friday?” Sean assured me that the material must have been covered on the class we missed Friday and then we heard the professor say, “You two, back there, come up front.”
He took down our names and informed us we were going to receive Fs on the Quiz (which is fine with me, I left it blank and so did Sean) and we were to leave the class for the day and I think he marked us as absent. Part of me can’t be angry at the professor; I mean, it’s his class and his rules and there were still people taking the quiz. But, damn, cut us some slack. F on the quiz, fine. Kicking us out for the day I feel is taking it too far.
There were also some problems concerning the loan I took out for this semester. Apparently, the reason it has not been dispersed is because my expected graduation date conflicted with the loan or something like that. I got it squared away with Financial Aid, but I won’t be getting any of the money until sometime next week, which leave me terribly broke this weekend. Oh well, guess I’ll have to go without drinking this weekend.
